WhatsApp in Cove is Cloud API. It is not a Crisp-complete channel and it is not a phone contact-center.
The wizard
Open Channels → WhatsApp. Three phases:
- Meta app and number. In Meta for Developers, create an app, add the WhatsApp product, and add a business phone number.
- Token and IDs. Create a system user, grant WhatsApp permission, generate a permanent access token. Temporary test tokens expire and drop the channel. Copy the app secret (Settings → Basic), the phone number ID (WhatsApp → API setup — the ID, not the digits people dial), and the E.164 display number.
- Connect, webhook, test. Connect first so Cove can generate the verify token. WhatsApp → Configuration → Callback URL = the URL we show. Verify token = the value after connect. Subscribe to the webhook fields listed on the screen. Send a WhatsApp from your phone to the display number. Check for test confirms it landed in Inbox.
Unsigned posts are rejected (X-Hub-Signature-256). Replies from the desk send back on the same number.
What this is not
- Not a WABA port from Intercom or Crisp. You reconnect Cloud API.
- Not template campaigns from this wizard.
- Not X, Viber, or Line.
Depth is Cloud API, not Crisp-complete. Marketing stays on integrations this pass — there is no standalone /whatsapp page yet.
